Ukrainakrisen - vår tids viktigaste fråga

Ryssland försöker smälla i oss att styckningen av Ukraina handlar om den ryska minoritetens rättig­heter (som ingen kunnat ­visa blivit kränkta), om västligt ränkspel och ”fascism”. En bisarr Putinvänster har formerat sig i Västeuropa och uttrycker förståelse för stormaktens rätt att över­falla och slå sönder sin ­svaga granne. Krisen är den farligaste i vår tid. En stormakt ändrar gränser och attackerar grannar. Hur svarar de andra stormakterna? Krafterna som sätts i rörelse kanske inte går att stoppa. Som när första världs­kriget började 1914. Här.

Putins personlige sändebud talar ur skägget

 Fem, sex länder ligger i täten när det gäller russofobin i Europa: Sverige, Polen, de baltiska länderna och Finland. I Sveriges och Polens fall kan rysshatet förklaras med gamla stormaktskomplex, i Lettlands och Estlands med att det har blivit ett politiskt instrument. Russofobin i Finland är däremot oförklarlig, Finland har ju bara vunnit ekonomiskt på handeln med Ryssland. Av allt att döma är det Sverige och de baltiska länderna som har påverkat Finland, säger Sergej Markov, Putins så kallade doverennoje litso, vilket betyder att han är Rysslands presidents personliga sändebud och representerar denne offentligt. Markov är statsvetare och förestår sin egen tankesmedja, Institutet för politisk forskning. Han är också medlem i Rysslands så kallade medborgarkammare, känd som en politisk hök vars tankevärld står Putin nära.

Markov om den säkerhetspolitiska utvecklingen i Europa blir han så arg att han höjer rösten och nästan ryter:

– Det får helt enkelt räcka med att bete sig mot Ryssland som om vi vore lägre stående! Europa ser i dag på ryssar på samma sätt som man i tiderna såg på judar. Ert mål är att förstöra Ryssland. Men det kommer ni inte att lyckas med. Napoleon försökte, Hitler försökte, utan framgång. Ni kommer att förstöra Europa i stället.

Hur tar sig denna russofobi uttryck?

– Till exempel i detta monstruösa ljugande om Ukraina. Påståendet att Porosjenko valdes genom fria, rättvisa val. Det är ju som att säga att Bashar al-Assad är demokratiskt vald!

– Antisemitismen startade andra världskriget, russofobin kan starta ett tredje. Det stora problemet är att Nato försöker skapa konstgjorda konflikter. Nato behövs inte längre, det har förlorat sitt existensberättigande och letar därför efter nya uppgifter. Nato är i praktiken en amerikansk organisation. Den amerikanska försvarsbudgeten är större än resten av världens tillsammans! USA rustar i rasande takt och skapar dessutom helt egna privata arméer av legosoldater som ingen kontrollerar, till exempel Blackwater. Den här utvecklingen är livsfarlig. Vad kommer att ske i Ukraina?

– Den troligaste lösningen är det bosniska scenariot. Rebellerna slåss med vapen från 1970-talet. Men om regeringen i Kiev inte slutar utöva våld mot sitt eget folk blir vi tvungna att bistå rebellerna – med både vapen och män. 

Det s k enade EU

Western leaders supposedly rebuked Vladimir Putin for his Crimea conquest by moving this year’s G- 8 meeting from Sochi and disinviting the Russian President. But you wouldn’t know it by taking a look at Mr. Putin’s calendar last week as the G-7 convened without him in Brussels.

French President François Hollande broke ranks first by inviting Mr. Putin to the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings on Friday. We don’t recall the Red Army took part in D- Day, but Mr. Hollande has Mistral cruisers to sell to Moscow. He followed up with a Thursday dinner invitation for the Russian, the same night that he had a previously scheduled meal with President Obama. A man of legendary appetites, the Frenchman kept both dates.

Perhaps feeling left out of this social swirl, British Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel scheduled their own meetings with the Russian leader. So much for Mr. Obama’s argument that the West is uniting to isolate the man in the Kremlin.

Russia’s government- controlled media will portray these meetings as evidence that their country has suffered very little diplomatic punishment since Crimea. And Mr. Putin might even figure he’s better off because he no longer has to attend the G-7 gabfests but still gets to go to dinner.

G7:s krav

Group of Seven agreed Moscow must recognize the legitimacy of Ukraine’s election of Petro Poroshenko as its next president; stop sending arms across the border and get separatists to lay down arms; and work with the government in Kiev to engage Ukrainians in the east.

France is preparing to train hundreds of Russian seamen to operate a powerful French- made warship this month, defying calls from the U.S. and other Western allies to keep the vessel out of the Kremlin’s hands. More than 400 Russian sailors are scheduled to arrive on June 22 in the French Atlantic port of Saint-Nazaire to undergo months of instruction before some of them pilot the first of two Mistral-class carriers back to Russia in the fall. 

“The contract is being fulfilled to the letter, without any delays in payments or work,” said Vyacheslav Davydenko, spokesman for Rosoboronexport, the Russian state-arms company that is buying the ships. Kloicka på bilden så förstoras den.

Strider bland höghus

After 10 hours of fighting at a building housing a Ukrainian national guard regiment near the city of Luhansk, soldiers ran out of ammunition, the national guard said.

The battle began when more than 300 heavily armed insurgents opened fire on the base from positions in residential apartment buildings and on rooftops.

Six militants were killed, three Ukrainian soldiers were injured and the rebels eventually took control of the building. 

Separatists also overran a border guard base just outside Luhansk after two days of fierce fighting. The border service said the troops on the base had been “redeployed.” But a YouTube video suggested a more ignominious defeat, showing Ukrainian troops in civilian clothes filing out past watchful rebels and carrying tote bags containing their belongings.

In late April, 65 Russian men in groups of five to 10 crossed the border with Ukraine on foot, telling border guards they were going to visit relatives.
It wasn't a fond babushka who picked them up at the border, however, but rather pro-Russian rebels from the self-declared Donetsk People's Republic in eastern Ukraine. They bussed the Russian fighters to the regional capital, where they took up arms and last week engaged in the fiercest combat yet against forces loyal to Kiev.
The Russian fighters – including veterans of the military, intelligence services and riot police – formed the core of a new unit called the Vostok Battalion, which took a lead role in the bloody battle for the Donetsk airport last week, in which 33 Russian citizens were killed.
